Back at the 2026 Printing Expo, everyone was talking about bulbs. But here’s the thing: a bulb by itself doesn’t actually cure your ink. We noticed a huge gap between what a lamp says it can do on a spec sheet and how fast the ink actually dries on the belt. That’s why we stopped focusing on just the glass and started building full custom modules.
The science bit (made simple)
We use high-pressure mercury vapor because it gives you a broad spectrum of UV. But we don’t just give everyone the same setup. We look at the photoinitiators in your specific inks first. If we bump up the wattage or tweak the tube length, we get more “punch” (irradiance). More punch means you can crank up your conveyor speed without worrying about wet ink. But there’s a catch. If you go too heavy on the power, you’ll end up scorching your material. It’s a balancing act. We spend a lot of time getting the distance between the bulb and your substrate just right so you get the speed without the burn.

A bulb is just a part. A module is a tool. We wrap our lamps in high-purity quartz glass—which keeps the UV flowing and stops the bulbs from burning out too early—and pair them with custom reflectors. We’ve shaped these reflectors to push the energy straight down. No wasted light, no wasted money. The best part? They’re drop-in replacements. You don’t have to rip out your whole line. If your current ballast handles the voltage and amps, you just swap the old unit for the new one and you’re back in business with way more power.
The trade-off you need to know about
Here is the honest part: more power means more heat. When you increase your throughput, your exhaust system has to work harder. If your cooling fans are old or underpowered, the bulb temperature is going to spike. That’s bad news. It kills the lamp’s lifespan and, in the worst cases, the quartz glass can actually crack. Before you swap them in, just double-check your airflow. Keep those bulbs cool, and they’ll keep your line moving fast.
